University Communications offers complimentary graphic design services for faculty and staff for official University business.
This policy establishes standards for the use of University-affiliated social media accounts and provides guidelines for differentiating an employee’s personal voice on social media from their professional connection to the University. Social media is a common and important communication tool for the University, as well as its faculty and staff.
This policy is a guide for professional and civil communications when communicating on social media accounts directly affiliated with the University. Specific guidance on how to establish, monitor and use such accounts can be found on UConn’s Social Media Brand Guidelines.
In addition, this policy provides guidance on communicating in a professional and civil manner related to personal social media accounts to the extent that such activities are covered by existing University policies or may be construed as the representations or opinions of the University. See UConn’s Policy on Communication with External Media.
A new guide has been posted to address guidelines for submitting news, events, or other important announcements to the Daily Digest.
In order to better serve our faculty, staff, and students for more specific and detailed requests, we have created more comprehensive online request forms. The information collected in these forms will help us better serve our audiences and will give our audiences more information and control.
- Event Calendar – Submit an event to the online event calendars. This could include one-off events, recurring events, and even events which are not ready to be publicly posted. Submitting to the event calendar also kicks off our process for creating display monitor advertisements.
- Display Monitor – Whether you have created your own slide for the display monitors or would like to request a slide be created for you, filling out this form will help guide our team in best serving your needs.
- Case Competition Coverage – For requests to publicize UConn School of Business teams that place either first, second or third in case competitions
We are planning on creating custom request forms for general news & press submissions, blog submissions, and adding/editing/deleting online profiles.
A new guide has been posted to address photo and video support from our office. This includes video editing, event photography, and faculty and staff headshots. We will continually update this resource.
On Friday, January 26, faculty and staff portraits are available in the School of Business Student Lounge (first floor) from 9:30-11:30. The session is open to faculty, staff, and Ph.D. students including anyone interested in an updated portrait. The University recently approved a University Policy on Communications with External Media. This policy gathers existing University policies regarding employee communication with external media into one accessible statement while also reaffirming the University’s continuing commitment to the principles of academic freedom. It incorporates policies on three distinct but related situations:
- Requests for Official University Position or Response
- Requests for Faculty regarding Subject Matter Expertise
- Personal Speech
The Policy on Communications with External Media applies to the administration, faculty, staff, and all other employees, including student employees, at all campuses and programs. Please take a moment to review the full policy at: http://policy.uconn.edu/?p=7075.
